The pre-playoff playoff game.

Sunday. 12:30pm Tip-off. Lakers v. Blazers.  The ultimate NBA rivalry.

It will be a test.  It will define the difference between the contestant and contender.  It will demolish facades and prove the true infrastructure.  It will have villains and heroes.  It will determine post-season fates.  It will expose the lucky and exalt the legitimate.  It will put to rest doubts.  It will raise to life other doubts.  It will razzle.  It will dazzle.  It will anger and torment.  It will be epic!

Here we go Blazers! Here… we… GO!

Stay classy, Dirk.

Stay classy, Dirk.

For some, mixed emotions were stirred during a game featuring former Trail Blazer, Steve Blake (Travis Outlaw - DNP).  As a long-time fan favorite in Portland, it was good to see Blake out on the floor for 28 minutes and contribute 14pts, 6ast, 1stl and 1blk. Yet it felt a little strange to root against him.  I’ve watched quite a few Clippers games since the Camby trade went down.  While I love what the trade did for the Blazers, I’m still enough of a fan of Blake and Outlaw to tune-in just to see them play.

A game like today’s begs me to pause and ask a very important question: Where would the Blazers be in the Western Conference standings right now without the addition of Marcus Camby? Better? Worse? MUCH Worse?

I’d be interested to gather your thoughts.

(Notes: Not-so-fitting tonight was Marcus Camby’s hamstring pull. We all hope and pray for a speedy recovery. Big ups to LMA for his 27 & 12! (Maybe he just got a little Camby mojo on him.) In non-Blazer news, congrats to Don Nelson on his amazing accomplishment; the NBA’s winningest coach!)

That’s it! My first post-game report from the Death Star.  You didn’t really think you’d get out of reading this without a Star Wars reference, did you?

Watch some highlights, younglings.

So this is it.  After much prodding by folks on FB and Twitter, I’m gonna start blogging. Mostly about the Portland Trail Blazers, of course.  But more than likely about many things around the National Basketball Association.

This will also become the spot my domain points to.  You’ll always be able to find me here with www.darthblazer.com!

So, while I figure this tumblr. stuff out, why don’t you be sure you’re following me at Twitter.com/darthblazer and have joined the fans at Facebook.com/darthblazer.  I’ll try to mix it up and keep the content fresh in all three spots (Tumblr/Twitter/FB).

I look forward to meeting and chatting with many new Blazers fans!

GO BLAZERS!
